Family, food, and (no) football

Duke opened their football season with the new Coach Cutcliffe (former asst. head coach at Tennessee) by treating all employees and their families to BBQ, Bluegrass, and games for the kids. It was a sea of Blue. Right up until the sky turned gray... Dad, Mom, Mark's family and mine had a great time eating and hanging out

We filed into the stadium where there was a pretty good crowd -- perhaps 25,000 fans. It started to rain lightly which was no big deal until the thunder and distant lightning began. The weather put the kickoff into a delay, and we eventually left to get the kids in bed. We were disappointed not to have seen any downs played this time. Maybe later in the Fall...

Zoe pledged her allegiance to becoming a Duke student and got a cool t-shirt. When she went back to get one for her brother, they weren't so generous. When she said something like, "Well, can I have one for my grandfather?" They responded with , "Well... who is he?" When she said "Professor Kelley," the immediate response was, "Oh. What size do you need?"

The game did eventually start, and last we heard Duke had a lead in the 4th qtr!
